Poetry Is Not a Luxury for Grief

If you have never written a poem this workshop is for you. If you are overwhelmed with Grief this workshop is for you. Inspired by poet Audre' Lorde’s essay " Poetry is Not a Luxury" this four-part workshop will delve into poetry on the topics of grief and loss. Participants will leave each week with a tool to support them in sustaining their own poetry practice.

I am convinced that without poetry I would not have survived with such grace. I would not have arrived at this moment in time so full of love and hope for the future. I would not have been able to see a future worth surviving in the face of all the trouble in the world. My poems have been these magical spells I’ve casted over myself to cover myself in light and keep myself through dark times. This gift has sustained me through struggle. It has been my resilience factor in the face of trauma that should have broken my spirit. It has ensured that my essence arrived intact to its destination. Art ensures the survival of our essences. It is the way we persist in the face of events that threaten to break our spirits and define our lives. By our art we redefine our world. The fee for the workshop is 100$.
